Southern Flavors Paired with the Soulful Sounds of the Blues, Friday, April 10th
Step back in time and savor the charm of the South with an unforgettable Southern Progressive Dinner hosted in a series of beautifully preserved historic homes, all within the same block. This unique dining experience invites guests to enjoy a multi-course meal while traveling from one historic house to the next—each offering a distinct atmosphere, a curated course, and a rich story of its own.
The evening begins with White Wine and Mint Juleps, hors d’oeuvres, featuring Smoked Shrimp Avocado canapes and English Cucumber sandwiches served on the wide, welcoming porch, the grand interior of Federal-style Myrtle Terrace, and the lovely Courtyard, where Southern hospitality is on full display.
From there, guests will move across the street to stately Stanton Hall for the salad course of a Southern Pear Salad topped with Cream Cheese-infused Aioli, shredded Cheddar Cheese, a Cherry garnish over seasoned crisp Spring Greens. The sumptuous entree of Parmesan-crusted Chicken Medallions topped with Brown Butter over Louisiana rice, and a delicious succotash of fresh Corn, Lima Beans, marinated Tomatoes, and Blackeyed Peas — all prepared by a local chef who specializes in regional cuisine. White Wine and Mint Tea served throughout your entree’ course.
The final stop brings everyone to a fun-filled speakeasy at The Big Muddy Inn for Lemon Meringue Tarts and Pecan Shortbreads, along with White Wine and a Coffee Bar with fresh whipped cream, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and Amaretto, where Southern Blues and Jazz are brought to life by the incomparable Amy Allen and her band for the end to your enchanting evening.
Throughout the evening, docents and homeowners share the history of each residence, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who came before. With antique-filled parlors, creaking wooden floors, and stories hidden in every corner, each house becomes a character in the evening’s unfolding narrative.
This progressive dinner isn’t just a meal – it’s a journey through time, taste, and tradition. Perfect for history lovers, foodies, and those looking for a truly memorable Southern evening.
