SPRING PILGRIMAGE: D’EVEREUX HALL CIRCA 1836

The present estate’s park-like gardens host fifty great Southern Oaks, many over 100 years old, dripping with Spanish moss, and 75-foot Magnolias tower over an extensively planted property, which includes Cedar, Ginkgo, and Pecan trees, Camellia groves, azaleas, and Japanese Magnolias. The double galleried rear facade sports Tuscan columns and a graceful fanlight done in the style of the slightly earlier Federal period.

  • One of the ten most outstanding Greek Revival homes in America
  • “Sourcebook of American Architecture” calls D’Evereux one of four “must-see” in Mississippi.
  • Forested with moss-laden Native Live Oaks, Magnolias and more
  • Rarely open to the public
